No Child Left Behind
I’ll go into further detail about this at a later date (read: never), but doesn’t the concept of No Child Left behind seem communist in nature (not unlike All Dogs Go To Heaven)? I mean, the way a capitalist society is stratified, some children need to be left behind -less we have Rhodes Scholars working at McDonald’s. The program should be renamed "Some Children Left Behind" or even "Most Children Left Behind." Besides, who needs an education, everyone can be a star on youtube and/or in their own mind. James Rox, reforming education in one sweeping gesture of my regal wrist.
Also to consider: Wasn’t the Yankees total destruction of the Red Sox last weekend basically the hottest shit this side of summertime in Africa? That’s a rhetorical question, child size -it doesn’t need answering.
Tip of the day: Ice cream melts.

While I agree that the American educuational system is in need of vast reform (I believe this even more strongly after obtaining a Master’s in School Psychology), I think that all children, regardless of socioeconomic status should have an opportunity to overcome, or at least improve, difficulties regardless of their cause.

Some may say being born alive is opportunity enough. If we were all rich, being rich wouldn’t mean anything. While a clever slogan, clearly some children need to be left behind if society is to continue functioning. Personally, I say trade schools, large scale public work projects and patience over generations is the underclasses best hope to rise up. But hey, I still clean my own bathroom -what do I know?

Yeah, maybe “left behind” is not the right way to phrase or conceive of the issue. I agree that there should be non-academic options available to _all_ students, even those who excel scholastically but don’t want to pursue that path. And of course patience, an area in which this society is sorely “behind.”
